As per the e-mail I sent out, the Online Quiz #2 is now due next class session (May 9th). You can find the Quiz on the
Assignments page.

Tonight we'll cover Chapter 13 concerning setting up Windows XP, and will actually setup XP on a computer from my lab that needs to be setup.. You can find the PDF file presentation on the download page.

April 25, 2007
There is NO CLASS tonight, however, Online Quiz #2 is now available on the
Assignments page. As with the last quiz, you'll probably want to first print it out, do it on paper, then come back to the Web page and fill the answers in to submit to me. If you have any questions or problems, be sure to let me know.

April 18, 2007
Tonight we'll cover Chapter 10 concerning I/O devices. You can find the PDF file presentation on the

April 11, 2007
Tonight we'll cover Chapter 9 on optimizing hard drives. Rather than cover the specifics of the chapter, I'll be going through a handout we've created for another class we teach on the computer maintenance subject.

A copy of that handout is available for download on the download page.

March 28, 2007
Tonight we'll go through Chapter 8 on hard drives, and hopefully get a chance to see how a drive can be partitioned and formatted. The PDF file for the chapter is available on the DL page.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: We will NOT have class next week, on April 4th. However, I will have our 2nd Quiz posted for you to take online, just as we did with Quiz #1. Quiz #2 will cover chapters 5 through 8.

March 21, 2007
Tonight we'll briefly cover Windows XP virtual memory optimization, and Chapter 7 on floppy drives. Tonight's class will definitely get out early. Next week we'll be diving into a more detailed chapter on hard drives.

March 14, 2007
As of late this afternoon, your corrected quizes will finally be in an e-mail message to you. They are in Word format and include book references to justify the answers. Let me know if you have any questions about them.

Tonight we'll focus on Chapter 6 in the book. The PDF PowerPoint presentation is available in the resource section. There is also an assignment from Chapter 6 for next week.

February 19, 2007
Last week you should have received an e-mail linking you to the first Quiz. The link is now also available on the Assignments page of this Web area. Today I sent another e-mail pushing back the due-date of the Quiz to Monday, February 26th.

In class this week we'll be starting in on Chapter 5. The PDF download document for this chapter is now available on the DL page.

February 13, 2007
IMPORTANT MESSAGE - We will NOT meet in class this Wednesday night (you should have received an e-mail about this). Since it's Valentine's Day, I've decided to give you the night off.... HOWEVER, I will be sending and posting a take-home quiz for you to complete by next weeks class. The quiz should be available by Wednesday night, or at the latest on Thursday.

Next week we'll be moving into Chapter 5 and looking at Motherboards.

January 31, 2007
If you've looked at the Class Outline of the syllabus, you have certainly noticed we are already behind according to what I had originally planned. This is NOT a bad thing, it just shows that the chapters cover more info that I had planned.

The bottom line is.... ignore the schedule, and just go with what I tell you to read and do on a week to week basis.

January 24, 2007
The PDF versions of the Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 PowerPoint presentations are available in the
DL area. Note that the files are pretty big, so it may take a while to download them.

I've added another utility tool the DL area. Tonight in class we'll be talking about diagnostic and information software tools.

January 17, 2007
For the first class, we'll be starting in on Chapter 1 of the class textbook, as well as take our first look at some Chapter 1 lab exercises from the Lab Manual. The assignment for next week has been posted on the
assignment page.

The BIS350 Download page has been updated with three tools we'll be using in class, and the BIS350 Syllabus.
