EXCEL TUTORIALS:
New Perspective On Microsoft Excel 2003 CourseCard Edition - Due November 12th.

Download the data files for the Excel Tutorials. Use the handout How to Download Data Files as a reference. This handout shows how to download the data files for Word, but apply what you learned in downloading the Word files to downloading the data files for Excel.

As an alternative to downloading the files from the Course Technology site, you can download them from here using the following instructions.

1 - Download the archive file by clicking here. As you download the file, save it to your Windows Desktop.
2 - Double-click the downloaded file, which is
called 20663-2d_Excel.exe. This starts the unarchving process. In the Window that appears, click the Unzip button, and the tutorial files will be placed in the C:\Course Technology\20663-2 folder.
3 - Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, and go to your C: drive. Then, open the folder called Course Technology, and beneath it, the one called 20663-2. You will see a folder for each of the tutorials.
4 - For the Excel assignments, go into the appropriate folder, and you'll see the necessary tutorial files.

NOTE: If you'll be working on the assignments in the computer lab, I suggest you copy the tutorial folders to a floppy disk for transport. The files should all fit, but if they don't, you may have to use additional floppies for each separate tutorial.

Read through and complete the following tutorials

  • Tutorial 1 – Using Excel to Manage Data -- Creating a Sales Order Report
  • Tutorial 2 – Working With Formulas and Functions -- Developing a Family Budget
  • Tutorial 3 – Developing a Professional-Looking Worksheet -- Formatting a Sales Report
  • Tutorial 4 – Working with Charts and Graphics -- Charting Sales Data

All tutorial labs assigned in each lab book will be due at the same time. Each tutorial lab is worth 30 points total and points will be deducted for objectives not completed as covered in the tutorials. Lab tutorials may not be turned in by printing unless they are also turned in digitally.

All Excel Tutorial are due on Sunday, November 12th. When you are finished with all Word Tutorials zip all the files into one file using the same procedure you used to zip your Windows files.

If you have not already done so, download the handout Using Filzip for instructions on how to download and use the Filzip program.
