COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will introduce students to the creation of Microsoft Windows applications using Microsoft Visual Basic version 6.0. The course will also
teach general programming fundamentals and basic GUI design. Prerequisite CIM101 or program director permission.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- To teach the fundamentals of Windows and Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 for Windows.
- To acquaint the student with fundamental programming techniques.
- To use practical problems to illustrate application-building techniques.
- To take advantage of the many capabilities of program design in a graphical environment.
- To discuss human factor issues when designing graphical interfaces.
GRADE DETERMINATION:
Class Discussions & Attendance 10%
Midterm Takehome Project 15%
Final Project / Exam 15%
Programming Projects 60%
Midterm Project The midterm will consist of a take-home programming project, similar to the chapter projects. You may also be asked to present
your project to the class and discuss any problems you encountered.
Final Exam The final exam will consist of a short series of essay questions and a take-home programming project. If time permits, you will also be
asked to present your project to the class.
Projects All programming projects will be structured, well-documented and well-written. Programs will not be accepted after two weeks from the due date.
Attendance: Regular attendance is expected. If you are absent for any reason, it is your responsibility to find and make up the assignments.
