Message Board

1/20/01

See you in the fall of 2001!

12/14/00

Next Tuesday and Thursday we continue with Chapter 8. There will be a couple of assignments for Chapter 8, but none for Chapter 9. Also, there will not be a final exam. However, there will be a final project due during our finals time. I'll post the final project sometime next week.

12/01/00

We have short, one-class week this week! On tuesday we will finish a tiny-bit from Chapter 7, and then start Chapter 8. The new handout is      available in the handouts section, along with the program samples in the Sample Programs section

11/14/00

On Tuesday we just about finished up Chapter 7. This Thursday we will have an OPEN LAB, which means that I won't lecture, but will be available to answer homework questions. If you don't have any questions about your homework, or don't need extra help, you need not come to class.

The Chapter 7 homework assignments will be due next Tuesday (November 21), however, I know that a few of your will be out of town with soccer and cross-country nationals, so if you don't get the assignments to me by next Tuesday; I'll understand.

Oh, and while you're on the road, KICK SOME REAR-END for the rest of us, OK?

11/06/00

SPECIAL NOTE: There will be NO CLASS on Tuesday, November 7th. On Thursday we will have an open-lab help time with homework, and will focus on Project #10.

11/06/00

The handout for the second part of Chapter 7 is available in the Handout section, and the sample programs can be downloaded from the Sample Programs section.

11/01/00

We continue with Chapter 7 on Thursday, and it looks like the last homework assignments from Chapter 6 won't be corrected until this coming weekend. I have posted the first set of assignments for Chapter 7 in the assignments section.

10/27/00

The first Chapter 7 notes are available for download in the Handout Section, and the sample programs are in the Sample Programs section.

I'll be sending out a grade update sheet to everyone sometime this weekend. Make sure to check it against what you have so far for homework you have turned in and grades.

10/23/00

This week we finish Chapter 6, and make sure that everyone has all the homework in up to Chapter 5. The latest chapter outlines are available in the handouts section, and the sample problems from Chapter 6 are in the Sample Programs section.

I've also posted the assignments for Chapter 6 in the Assignments section.

10/09/00

We will finish Chapter 5 this week. The 2nd handout for the chapter is available in the handout section. Also, the sample programs shown in class (and referenced in the handout) are now available for download in the Sample Programs section.

09/29/00

The notes for next week's class are available in the handout section. We will be starting Chapter 5.

NOTE: There will NOT be class on Thursday, October 5th.

09/22/00

The notes for next week's class are available in the handout section. We will finish Chapter 4, and have time in class for questions on homework. The next assignment has also been posted.

09/18/00

You should have recieved an E-mail with the grading for your first assignments. I'll be E-mailing you your grades/comments each time you turn in your disk. I'll have your disks to return to you in class Tuesday.

09/15/00

Class notes for Chapter 4 (part one) are available in the Handouts section. The first assignment for Chapter 4 is also available if you feel like you want to get ahead.

ALSO: Two-Dogs now has a message board area for you to leave questions and comments about class. Please use this board if you have a question that everyone might benefit from.

09/10/00

We will be finishing Chapter 3 in class on Thursday. Your homework assignment for the chapter is now listed in the Assignments section.

09/08/00

The notes are available for the rest of Chapter 3 (covered next week in class). Check the Handouts section.

09/07/00

We started on Chapter 3 today, getting through the 1st third. We will finish with chapter 3 next week. There is an assignment due next tuesday (see the Assignment section).

09/05/00

On Tuesday we continued the Chapter 2 material, and on Thursday will finish the chapter during the first 15 minutes of class. We will then dive into Chapter 3. The notes for Chapter 3 are available in the handout sections.

You were also given an assignment from Chapter 2 that is due this Thursday. My plan is to review the assignment in class, just to make sure everyone understand's what's going on.

Finally, there's a chance I may change the way you hand-in your assignments. Rather than using floppies, I'm working on setting up an upload area on the Internet for you to use. I'll let you know more on Thursday in class.

08/30/00

NOTE FOR THURSDAY CLASS: Be sure to bring your book CD with you on Thursday. We'll be installing the VB 6.0 Working copy on that disk to the machine you are using in the lab.

The notes for Thursday (Chapter 2) are available for download in the Handouts section.

Also, if you have not yet done so, send me an E-mail message so I can get your address.

08/28/00

We'll be covering Chapter 1 on Tuesday, and begin Chapter 2 (which takes us into VB) on Thursday. You can find the class notes for Chapter 1 in the handouts section.

NOTE: The  VB Working Model found on your student disk can be used to do your homework. The only limitations are: (1) there are no HELP files, (2) you can't save programs as .exe for distribution. If you want a full copy of VB 6.0, you can purchase it at student prices at the UNO bookstore for $99.00 (be sure to take your ID along when you go there).

08/23/00
