Class Announcements

04/08/02

This week we start with a walkthrough of the Review and Case assignments for the DHTML Tutorial 1 homework. I still want you to post the assignments when you complete them, but I think the walkthroughs of the homework will help in your understanding of this complex subject. We'll probably do the same thing for the second Tutorial.

On Thursday, we will finish whatever we don't complete in the walkthroughs, and start DHTML Tutorial #2. If you want to get ahead, start working on the Tutorial #2 walkthrough which will be part of your assignment.

04/01/02

This week we finish Tutorial 10 and have an open lab on Thursday. There are three downloads in the handout section you may want to get. One is the presentation from class, the second is a zip file with examples, and the third is the solution to Case 3 from the book. The assignments have also been posted in the assignment section.

In addition, check this site out (www.w3schools.com) for additional tutorial and  reference information concerning DHTML.

03/11/02

This week we start Tutorial 10 which covers multimedia. From an HTML perspective, this is a pretty easy chapter and should only take two class sessions to complete. I'll be introducing some additional materials on audio not found in the tutorials, and have added two handouts to the handouts section of the site that cover that material.

The assignments for Tutorial 10 have been posted in the assignment section.

02/18/02

There will be NO CLASS on Tuesday, February 19th. We will continue with Tutorial 8 on Thursday, finishing up that chapter and moving on to Tutorial 9. Continue working on your assignments and drop me a note if you have any questions.

02/05/02

The extra class handouts and a downloadable archived executable of sample pages for Tutorial 8 are available in the handout section.

02/03/02

This week we start Tutorial 8, which is an introduction to Javascript. We'll be working with JavaScript for the rest of the course, since DHTML relies heavily on it, so it's important that you take the time to carefully work through Tutorial 8 and 9, which provide you with the foundation you'll need.

I've posted the assignments for this Tutorial, in case you want to get started on them. I'll also be posting some extra handouts for Javascript in the handouts section, later this week.

Also note that I have a special JavaScript resource page you can check for some good online JavaScript help, references, and examples.

01/21/02

On Tuesday, we will go through your homework assignment together in class, as a review of HTML, just to get you up to speed. We will also start discussing Tutorial 7, on CSS (cascading style sheets). I've added some links to CSS resources on the reference page.

The assignment section has the assignments for this Tutorial, in case you want to get started and get ahead.

Welcome to the Spring 2002 session of CIM315! This notice board will be updated at least once per week, informing you of what's going on in class and relaying last minute information about handouts, assignments, etc.

On the right, beneath Class Pages banner, are links to the class syllabus, an updated assignment list, class handouts (which you also will get on CD), reference links you might find useful, and a few sample web pages that I'll refer to as we progress through class.

NOTE: the lower pages in this area will be available for use by Monday, January 21st.

Also notice there is a Message Board link that takes you to the Two-Dogs/SHF online message board, where you can leave comments and questions about classes.

Finally, there is an HTML Quick Reference page that you can refer to as a reminder of how certain HTML tags work.
